(Agraria.pe) In 1999, the year of the founding of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Hass Avocado from Peru (ProHass), our country had only 2,000 hectares of Hass avocado, which allowed for the export of 479 tons; today, 26 years later, 84 thousand hectares are counted, achieving an export of 692 thousand tons.
This was stated by the president of ProHass, José Antonio Castro, who also highlighted that it is one of the agro-export crops with the largest area and broad participation of producers. He detailed that there are more than 30 thousand producers in our country who sustain their economy with this crop.
He also indicated that there are 69 packers nationwide dedicated to the processing and export of Hass avocado.
